STARTCheck Diagnostic Service

The STARTCheck service is a diagnostic programme that lets you know what pathogens are causing mastitis in the herd and view the results online (through your computer, iPad or iPhone).

With STARTCheck, you can take a milk tank sample and sample from a pool of cows with mastitis and send them to our diagnostic laboratories (Diagnos). Using a PCR diagnostic technique, we identify which of the main mastitis-causing micro-organisms are present in that herd. In addition, registered users of our HIPRA e-diagnos service can conveniently view the results of their analyses online.

STARTCheck includes the following material:

• FTA card for taking samples. Their small size makes them easy to handle and they don’t have to be kept in the fridge. 
• 2 sterile pipettes for taking milk tank samples.
• Explanatory leaflet and form for sending in the samples.
